Within ‘The Voice of SuZhou He 31 ‘144.121’ 274’ project the aim of The Sights and Sounds was to document the exploring of the site… the noises, the activities, the people and what we, as visitors found inspiration in as we walked around the streets of the SuZhou river.

The focus for each element captured was We are inspired by this place because…

Method Descriptor

Through recording the sights and sounds of SuZhou He 31 ‘144.121’ 274’, we were a group of explorers to this exciting and dynamic site. We used a Dictaphone to record the sounds and activity and photography to record the sights which captured our attention. These recordings were then projected onto a backdrop of white t-shirts in the final exhibition.

On curating our findings, we managed to capture sights and sounds from buildings, people, transport, daily life, machinery and activity.
